Executive summary
Satellite operators are adding spacecraft faster than they are adding operators. The report looks at where operations effort actually goes today, how health monitoring and anomaly management are tooled across the market, and what breaks first when a fleet grows.
Three findings shape how we build:
- Most operators already have detection and alerting. The gap is in what happens in the twenty minutes after an alert fires.
- Operational knowledge concentrates in a small number of senior people, and handover quality tracks who is on shift.
- End-of-life decisions are still made on design-phase numbers, years after the evidence needed to improve them started arriving by downlink.
