01 / About Intella

Intella builds AI mission intelligence software for satellite fleet operations. Our products help operators see the live status of their fleet, get qualified recommendations on what to do next, and orchestrate operations workflows. We are a seed-stage deep-tech company of around 15 people based at PoliHub and ESA BIC in Milan, working with commercial and institutional space operators in Europe and the US.

02 / The role

You will own the infrastructure our products run on: cloud, Kubernetes, networking, security and the internal tooling that keeps a small engineering team fast. Our customers run satellite fleets, so reliability, security and auditability are not optional features, they are the product.

You will report to the CTO and work daily with the engineering team. The role is hands-on: you design, build and operate the platform yourself, and you are the reference person for security and compliance processes.

03 / What you will do

Infrastructure and platform

• Design, implement and maintain our infrastructure as code across multiple clouds (mainly GCP and AWS), with high availability, performance and scalability as baseline requirements.
• Run our Kubernetes clusters: deployment, observability, upgrades, cost and resource optimisation.
• Manage Linux server environments and networking, including the office lab with on-premise servers and machines.
• Maintain the ecosystem of internal and customer-facing tools and services.
• Support deployments of our products in customer environments (cloud or on-premise) when required.

Security and compliance

• Apply security best practices across infrastructure and platforms: hardening, access control, secrets, monitoring, incident response.
• Own the technical side of security certifications and audits (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIS2): controls, evidence, process.
• Keep the platform ready for customer security reviews and institutional procurement requirements.

Engineering enablement

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling so the team ships safely and often.
• Define and document operational standards: backups, disaster recovery, runbooks, on-call.
• Track infrastructure costs and propose optimisations.

04 / What we are looking for

Must have

• Proven experience building and operating live cloud infrastructure in production (GCP or AWS, both is better).
• Strong Linux and networking skills, applied in production.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent).
• Experience with infrastructure security and hardening.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the discipline to document what you build.
• Autonomy and ownership. We are a small team and you will run your area with little supervision.
• Fluent English.
• Based in Italy.

Nice to have

• Experience with security certifications and audits (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIS2).
• Experience with on-premise or air-gapped deployments.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience with data-intensive platforms (streaming, time series, large datasets).
• Knowledge of the space or aerospace sector.
• Italian.

05 / Where and how we work

• Hybrid: 2 days a week in our office in Milan (PoliHub and ESA BIC), the rest remote.
• Full remote is possible for the right candidate, agreed case by case.
• Occasional travel to customer sites for deployments and to conferences. All travel expenses are covered.
• Flexible working hours, with an OKR-based evaluation mechanism.
